Welcome to Freedom Homeschoolers

August , 2020

Freedom Homeschoolers was created in 2005 to support homeschooling families in the Phenix City, AL / Columbus, GA area regardless of religious affiliation. Faith based or secular - all are welcome! Support for each family is offered through group activities, co-ops, field trips, or perhaps just a chance to sit and chat with other homeschoolers. Attend as many or as few activities as you like. Family membership is very affordable at just $20 for the school year.

**Due to Covid-19, this year we are offering fewer in-person activites. As a result, we have reduced our membership fee to $10 for new families. More details about membership can be found on our public Facebook page. Facebook . New Liability Waivers are required for all members. Forms are available on the Facebook group page.

If you would like to learn more about membership benefits, please go to our Membership webpage. Members may be added all through the year but please allow us a few days to receive and process your request.

If you're looking for the best way to meet other homeschoolers, come join us for Park Day. We meet every Friday from 10 am-12 pm during June - August and 2-4 pm September - May in Columbus or Phenix City. Kids of ALL AGES come and join us for a time of fun and fellowship at the park.

Location for September Park Days is the Park at Cascade Hills in Columbus.

We have a very active Facebook group. To join, please send in your membership forms and pay the annual dues. Once received we will add you to the group page.

Upcoming Activities

We are buzzing with activities. The best way to stay informed is to send in your membership and join our Facebook group. Group activities are listed primarily on our Facebook events.

Here are a few of our favorite group things:
  1. Zoom Meetings are available during quarantine as a way for kids to stay connected. Lego Club, Book Clubs and Teen Book Clubs are all meeting through virtual events
  2. Co-op is offered in fall and spring for all ages. We meet once a week for 6 weeks and provide classes on all sorts of topics. **Due to social distancing guidelines during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are not planning a Fall Co-op for 2020. We hope to be able to reevaluate for January 2021. Updates will be posted within the Facebook gorup. Check out the details from previous co-ops HERE**
  3. Field Trips for all ages! Places like American Village, Fernbank Museum, McWane Science Center and Oxbow Meadows once locations open.
  4. Teen Activities (ages 13-18)like monthly movie dates, international potlucks, study groups and even PROM!
  5. Graduation. Planning for commencement exercises for homeschooled graduates begins early in the year. Updates coming soon for the Class of 2021

We're looking for volunteers to coordinate activities and events. We would like to offer events and activities for homeschoolers of all ages. Preschool, Elementary, Middle and High School. If you are interested in planning a group activities, field trip or event, please email Suzanne at sheepers@bellsouth.net or post the information on the Facebook group. Without your participation, we won't have the diversity of activities to choose from. Don't be afraid, get involved. It's the best way to make new friends.
