These are a few of our favorite things. There are tons of things to do around the Columbus/Phenix City area. Below you'll find a list of area attractions that may be of interest to you as a homeschooling family. Many offer specific resources or programs for homeschoolers.

Another great way to find out what's happening in the area is to check out Muscogee Moms. They provide Columbus, Georgia with a central location for family-friendly events and activities and resources. The Columbus Library They've got more than just books! Look for audio recordings, DVDs, videos and book clubs. Research, renew and reserve materials online. Plus, find out about upcoming community events. If you don't live in the Columbus area, be sure to check out your local library for great homeschooling resources.

Phenix City Library Located at 1501 17th Avenue in Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, the library has great resources and tons of community classes and events for the whole family.

Oxbow Meadows Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center is dedicated to providing quality educational programs and resources that promote environmental awareness and citizen science. Our mission is to inspire individuals to conserve, protect and restore the natural environment.

Callaway Gardens is a spectacular 13,000 acres of beautiful Georgia countryside in the Appalachian Mountains. Home of the world's largest azalea display, one of North America's biggest butterfly conservatories, and magnificent vegetable garden where PBS' "The Victory Garden" is filmed, this Georgia retreat is the perfect destination for family vacations or romantic getaways.

Coca Cola Space and Science Center is located in the heart of uptown Columbus along the beautiful Chattahoochee Riverwalk and adjacent to the Columbus Historic District and the Iron Works Convention and Trade Center. Their state of the art facility houses a Challenger Learning Center, the Omnisphere Theater and the Mead Observatory. Visit the Plaza area for many interactive exhibits and displays.

Family Theatre is a non-profit theatre company located in Columbus,GA founded in 1997 by Anne Stumhofer. Their mission is to deliver quality, wholesome entertainment for the entire family. they seek to bring quality productions centered around wholesome themes that promote positive family values and are free of the profanity and questionable adult themes that lace so many forms of entertainment today.

Westville is Georgia's 1850's living history museum. Tours include historic buildings and costumed guides explaining the ins and outs of living in Georgia before and during the Civil War.

Located in historic Columbus, Georgia on the Chattahoochee Intra-Coastal Waterway, Port Columbus is the only museum in the world dedicated to telling the complete Naval story of the American Civil War. From the ironclads to steam and sailing ships to the first successful submarines, Port Columbus has gone to great extent to raise, recover and preserve the military and technological advances of the American Civil War Navies.

National Infantry Museum stands in tribute to the long legacy of valor and sacrifice of the United States Army Infantryman.
