Songs, stories and group playtime for our very youngest homeschoolers. Our playground will be available, weather permitting.

Preschool Activities     ages 3-5
Stories, crafts and games for preschool aged children.  Our new playground will be available for playtime, weather permitting.

Bug Safari                    ages                 Julie Teel
A literary adventure with bugs.  There will be stories, crafts, songs and activities for children ages 5-7.  Bring your sense of adventure and join us on our bug safari! 

Crafting Craziness - grades K-3rd      Lori Jeffries
Several crafts using various mediums. We will be doing paper mache, working with yarn and various other mediums.  There will be a supply list provided the first week of class.  Please wear clothes that will withstand glue and other messy mediums

Nutrition           grades 1-5        Lori Thornton
A unit study based on the book by Leanne Ely, C.N.C. Healthy Foods: An Irreverent Guide to Understanding Nutrition and Feeding Your Family Well.  The children will learn to about a balanced diet, proteins, complex carbohydrates, and fats (both good and bad), how to make wise choices with foods, meal planning, etc.  The children are supposed to prepare a menu for a well balanced meal by the end of the class and help their parents plan, shop, cook, and clean up from the meal.

A Journey Into the Human Body         Grades 1-5      Anne Maniscalo
This will be introductory – so please keep that in mind if you have a child that is already well-versed on the human body and its’ systems.  We will learn about the different organ systems while performing fun hands-on science experiments using the Magic School Bus kit as a guide.  We will discuss muscular, skeletal, digestive, respiratory, circulatory, endocrine, integumentary (skin) and nervous systems.  Parents: don’t worry, if it’s covered by a bathing suit, we will NOT discuss it!!!  Waste elimination may be touched on as part of the digestive system – but as little as possible. 

Speech Articulation                  Kim Owens
This class will offer the beginning remediation of articulation/sound errors in children's speech.  Children typically have most of their sounds by age 6 and should be predominately understood by strangers.  Your child could benefit from this class if they have difficulty saying certain words ("bud" for bird or "wabbit" for rabbit) or if other have trouble understanding them. Games and other fun activities will be incorporated into the class to facilitate learning.

Elections          5-8th grade       Ellen Pillar
An introduction into how elections work in the USA.  Learn about the history of the election process in our country and how it works today. What exactly is the Electoral College anyway? Why do we have conventions and political parties? We'll find out!

Earth 911          Middle & High School         Wendy & Shannon Waller
Learn how to recycle, why to recycle and what you can recycle. We will also discuss the impact our trash has on the environment. Special guest speakers will be featured to highlight how we can be a part of changing our world for the better. Keep our planet green.

There & Back Again: A Hobbit's Holiday       Grades 6-8        Daniel Griswell
Before Frodo held the One Ring, before the Fellowship, before Helm's Deep, before the King returned to claim his throne...there was a hobbit. Journey with Gandalf and Thorin's dwarves on the greatest adventure that one little hobbit named Bilbo Baggins had ever known. This is where it all began. We will delve into Tolkien's passion, wit, wisdom, and faith in God. We will also cover the many myths and legends of Middle Earth, as well as study and read poetry that spanned Tolkien's works. We may even cook a "middle earth" meal, if time permits. Students must acquire a copy of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit", and be willing to read the book

Planning for Beyond High School   Grades:9th-12th    Kelly Parrish & Melissa Boyer

Course to provide high school students discussions and information on SAT/ACT, future job interests, and time management on their current high school studies.  Last portion of class blocked out for personal school assignments from home.
